Tom Ford’s advertisement for his fragrance “Neroli Portofino” brings up questions of social identity that concern gender, sexual orientation and class. This advertisement was found in the June 2011 edition of Vogue magazine, not too many pages away from the front cover.  The advert in this case, is a nude man in his early adulthood pouring this fragrance on top of a bare skinned woman.  This woman is also holding a bottle of Tom Ford’s fragrance and splashing it on what seems to be aiming at his genitals.  It is evident that the two models are bathing in this fragrance considering that they are both naked and have soap spread over their bodies.   Therefore we can deduce that this fragrance, Neroli Portofino can be worn by both male and female making this product unisex.   This male model however, is contrary to the pragmatic belief of how men are usually exposed in advertisements in our culture.  Although it is clear that he is a male because of his body hair, well defined jaw line, sculpted facial structures, sturdy arms, and muscular legs; society would not rank him as being masculine in this advertisement.  This picture illustrates that not all men are athletic body builders, have abs of steel, broad shoulders, a big chest and carry out that certain machismo that society is always exposed to.

  2. Overall, the entry was written with perfection. You managed to find some of the smallest details, analyzed them and came up with appropriate conclusions which is great. You had a strong argument to begin with which served as a good topic sentence. You went on the same lines right till the end which is definitely commendable. My only major suggestion would be to either increase the length of the post or break into smaller paragraphs to make it easier for the readers to read. Also, there were some minor grammatical errors which you should be able to find once you revise it.
